Two thousand and sixteen has been a big year for fashion! There has been a lot to get obsessed over! We’ve had phenomenal fashions weeks, show stopper outfits from the Met Gala, Balmain Army, Kenzo x H&M and the comeback of velvet. I’ve gotten together a mini achieve of 2016’s best fashion moments and highlights! Enjoy!
First in the year, during SS16 was probably the bardot top making its comeback into our wardrobes! SS Fashion weeks were definitely giving us ‘the cold shoulder’. The off the shoulder item has been relevent all year making it’s way into AW too! The 50’s piece named after Brigitte Bardot, had meant that this year we’ve been treating shoulders as the new cleavage. Here are some images of a few of my favourite high street bardot tops including Brigitte herself back in the day!
If your interested in reading up some about the piece, head over to Lydia Elise Millen‘s blog for info on how to style the piece!
Come May, we had my all time favourite fashion event of the year – The Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York! This years theme was ‘Fashion in a World of Technology!’ Below are my favourite looks from the evening! Not all necessarily go along with the theme but they were so stunning I thought they definitely deserved a mention!
Kylie Jenner wears Balmain
Jourdan Dunn wears Balmain
Blake Lively wears Burberry
Zendaya wears Michael Kors
Karolina Kurkova wears Marchesa
Lupita Nyong’o wears Calvin Klein

DESIGNER OF THE YEAR
While the official womenswear designer of 2016 was Marc Jacobs for his obvious and huge contribution to the fashion industry – I actually wanted to put the spotlight on Balmain. Olivier Rousteing, the designer behind the brand has become the most in demand designer for every A-list celebrity! With the Kardashians and Jenners wearing his designs, the DNA of the brand has quickly trickled through to high street copies! I’ve gathered a few of my favourite looks from his 2016 runway collections!
Come AW we’ve had velvet overload in navy! I’ve always found velvet to have an overly theatrical feel however shown in a deep royal navy is vey wearable and I’ve been addicted! Kurt Geiger have brought out a lot of shoes in this texture along with other brands! Some of which are featured below. Very Luxurious!
H&M x KENZO
Next up in November we had H&M’s annual colabration with a designer – 2016 being Kenzo! With items selling out in two minutes, it’s pretty difficult to get your hands on anything. For those of who who blinked and missed the action here are a few images of what the collection consisted of! I’m already excited to guess what designer will be featured next year!
A few last pieces from the collection can still be found at H&M.
