CHANEL VOLUME MASCARA
This product has been in my make-up kit for years – probably as early as 2014 when I started experimenting with higher end make-up. My lashes are unfortunately extremely straight with very little flick or body and therefore I need something to help me build them up. This mascara is pricey at £25 but every time I feel my tube starting to dry up I immediately pick up a new one on my lunch break as I never want to be caught without this! Apply 2 coats after curling lashes for best results for anyone thinking of trailing it. And I highly recommend you do!
NARS LIQUID LAGUNA BRONZER
Cannot praise this one enough! As someone who is stuck instead working every time the sun comes out, I am always looking for those golden goddess vibes in the morning. This just warms up my face and creates a beautiful golden, naturally contoured dimension. I have also bought the Nars power laguna bronzer which I still have and use but I much prefer their liquid version. For me adding powder to my face can sometimes take away any glow/dewiness that I’ve build up and I can leave me looking a little flat. I use liquid foundation and therefore the Nars liquid bronzer blends into my face seamlessly. I have also used the Chanel Universal bronzer which is a similar product but as it comes as a cream I struggle to build it up without feeling like my foundation underneath is getting buffed out of place. I still love the Chanel Soleil bronzer but for me Nars definitely came out on top and its cheaper at £27.
YVES SAINT LAURENT PRIMER
My most recent purchase and the one that makes the happiest to look at. I’m a sucker for good packaging! With little flecks of gold inside, this gel primer illuminates my entire face beautifully so that I look healthy and hydrated – not shiny! It also helps my foundation to stay in place and last so much longer. I detest that moment when you come back from work to take off your foundation and there is nothing left to take off because you’ve sweated all away. Therefore I invested the £29.50 and feel so much better for it! In my opinion you can get off with very little make-up everywhere else when the skin looks perfected. And this is exactly what it does! Well worth the price tag!
CHARLOTTE TILBURY MAGIC FOUNDATION
So after falling in love with the Nars Sheer Glow foundation I didn’t think I’d even try another foundation yet alone actually start using another one. That was until my sister ended up buying a shade too dark in her Charlotte Tilbury Magic foundation and gave it to me instead. I still can’t believe how amazing it is! Do you ever get that feeling when you’re having a good skin day but despite it cannot bare to leave the house without foundation? I suppose its psychological. And also that shop lighting is never as flattering as your own light up hollywood mirror at home. So you put it on and while you feel a little more presented, you feel like the skin itself is suffocated and actually older looking? The Charlotte Tilbury Magic foundation takes the whole idea of make-up back to square one, where you apply it in a way to pretend you don’t have it on. An idea far from those ‘perfected to an inch’, looks popular on Instagram right now. I can actually see my skin underneath but any discolouration is just gone! My one complaint is that it needs a primer if you plan on not touching up for 9 hours straight. At £30 this is also less expensive than Nars Sheer Glow. The shade I’m using is 4.5 but I will switch it for 4 when I purchase a new one!
URBAN DECEY EYESHADOW PRIMER
Usually I switch between this and the Mac Paint Pots but given I usually opt for a more dewey, high gloss finish rather than a matte one I always prefer the finish of this! I use the shade SIN as it is deliberately designed for an intensely high gloss, high simmer, eye. When I’m at work I always get compliments for my eye make-up and its honestly all down to the product! Every colour from every brand always applies more intensely after using this! Thanks to this primer I’ve been using £8 eye shadow palates (Sleek Cosmetics) and having the colour and blending work stay put right until the end of day! The £17 saves you spending on other pricey shadows, so it works out cost-effective!
NARS DIONE EYESHADOW
One of my most favourite make-up looks on the red carpet is when both the eyes and lips are centre stage yet there is no competition between them both. I’ve always been an eye over lips gal but in order to maximise the size of lips, one must add colour? And then suddenly you start looking a little drag even though you swore you would keep it natural. The best make-up artists in the world know how to make every feature stand out. Nars eyeshadow in Dione is one of the best shades for doing this! This silver/pewter/champagne shade gives just enough colour impact that you can have your golden goddess/full glamour eye moment but when faded into various shades of brown tones it ends up having this almost natural look where adding a bright lip looks more fashion forward than it does drag. This formula works best when the eyeshadow brush is damp (I say damp and not wet because the last thing you want is that £21 eyeshadow running everywhere)!
CHANEL CHANCE PERFUME
Expensive. Floral. Luxury. Fresh. Jasmine. Vanilla. This perfume is my scent! I spray sparingly because the price tag of £105 means I can only have this in my possession when my mumma bear pops it in my christmas stocking. But being perfume rather than eue de toilette means it does last a lot longer on the skin anyway. I could have my make-up on point, my hair perfect, nails flawless, outfit and jewelly all picked out and yet I will happily make myself late for work/events looking through my handbags for this perfume. I just don’t feel complete without it – its almost become a part of me.
NANO WHITENING TOOTHPASTE
I think a whiter smile is always a great way to look healthier – not to mention how incredible a lipstick can look when theres a set of white teeth behind it! I’m far to busy to go and have my teeth professionally whitened so I look for ways to incorporate this into my everyday routine. Using toothpaste with whitening properties really works for me. I’ve used a few of the Colgate options and I’ve always wanted to compare this with the luxury toothpaste brands. I therefore invested £9 (Boots offer price) into the Nano tooth whitening toothpaste. I’m using this everyday and but I haven’t used this for long enough to really test the difference yet.
CHANEL SS16 LIMITED EDITION BLUSHER
Every season Chanel will make a few items limited edition and last year I got my hands on their beautiful multi-coloured blusher! Thanks to it having so many different shades of colour in it I always reach for this blusher compact over any other as it works amazingly well with whatever look I happen to be doing that day. It has some stunning bronzer shades in it along with some bright pops of pinks which always keep me looking extremely fresh faced! I have not included a link for this one as it is sadly no longer available.
CHANEL ROUGE COCO LIPSTICK
As you can tell I’m a huge Chanel make-up fanatic so why top at lipstick?! My favourite shade is Legende. This beautiful warm rosy pink satin/frosted finish lipstick is my favourite lipstick from Chanel. It has just enough colour intensity to highlight my lips and maximise the volume of them (especially with the light reflecting properties) but without wearing a heavy colour to do so. Its extremely moisturising and works with both a neutral eye for a day look and a smoky eye for a night look. I think its had its 3rd round in the washing machine from all those times I’ve kept it right in my pocket and forgotten about it when I’ve come home and put a wash on. Packaging however is still in tact!
Thanks for reading! Hope this provided a nice bit of escapism from your busy day.
